Cool animation.
To quote my husband, you don't see too many animations filmed with a microscope.
Good for whoever said "hey, I wonder what we could do with that?" (The phone camera.)

That is very cool indeed. I watched it, and then called my son over and he watched it,too.
That is SO. COOL. Thanks for sharing!
The question is -- "Why?"
Not that I didn't enjoy it. The same story could have been done with larger props.
SAW & Flea - glad you enjoyed it.
Christine - Yes, of course the story could have executed any number of other ways, just as most stories could. No doubt "Gone with the Wind" could have also been done with hand puppets, and probably would have been a less expensive, grueling production.
The dollars-and-cents "why" is that this animation was commissioned from Aardman to demonstrate some of the capabilities of Nokia's N8 cell phone camera. It's an advertisement. It's a concrete demonstration that the camera is capable of high quality, precise work, rather than being the low quality piece of crap that many of us associate with cell phone cameras.
It's a good way to get the word out. People will hopefully see the animation and think things like "Oh, wow. We can use a portable, inexpensive piece of equipment like that in our remote field hospital."
The philosophical "why" is "because we can". Because it's darned cool to try doing something with this Lilliputian landscape, to have a little fun while accomplishing our key goal. Because having a REAL animation featuring pin heads, coins, and so forth is far cooler than making giant models of the same. Because we humans like to try interesting things just to have fun or see if they can be done, and sometimes we learn a little in the process.

That's a GOOD reason.
That is brilliant.
